Anil Kapoor plays a rickshawala in Tashan
Anil Kapoor is playing an auto rickshawala in the upcoming Yash Raj flick, Tashan also starring Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The new look that the Salaam-E-Ishq star is being seen sporting nowadays - longer hair and big moustache - is for this character.
A unit source informs, “In Tashan, Anil Kapoor plays an auto rickshaw driver from Kanpur who strikes big in the big city through crime. He has two looks in the film, one that he is currently being noticed in nowadays and other has him in more chic appearance with a clean shaven, tattooed chest. His character is not entirely negative in the film but has just a few shades of grey just like the characters of John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan in the Dhoom series. They played characters on the wrong side of the law but they were not villains in the film.”
This specific character was written keeping Anil Kapoor in mind by the Dhoom series writer Vijay Krishna Acharya who turns director with Tashan. Vijay was earlier reported talking about how much he had loved Anil’s Lakhan character and his look in Subhash Ghai’s Ram Lakhan. “This present long haired and big mustached look of Anil’s in Tashan resembles his Lakhan look a lot,” adds the source.
Actors doing Yash Raj films are specifically directed to be secretive about their roles by head honcho, Aditya Chopra. Anil too refused to comment about it when we tried speaking to him.
Incidentally, another hero from Anil’s younger days, Sunny Deol, in his recently released, Big Brother also played an auto rickshaw driver. That film was inspired by south super star, Rajnikanth’s Tamil mega hit, Basha.
