Girl ends life after rejection in love
A college student's crush on her 42-year-old tutor turned fatal when she committed suicide on Sunday at Bally. Chaitali Das (20) set herself on fire after Mittun Tudu, a married schoolteacher, turned down her marriage proposal.
The teacher was arrested after the girl's father, Mahadev Das, lodged a complaint that Tudu had a physical relationship with his daughter.
Das further claimed that his family was not aware of the fact that Tudu was married and had, in fact, proposed marriage to his daughter earlier.
A history teacher at Bally Anandanagar High School for the last 10 years, Tudu used to stay alone in a nearby flat, while his wife stayed with their child in Purulia. Chaitali first met Tudu in this school. Chaitali, who passed out of the same school last year, enrolled at Baranagar BKC College to study arts. Tudu then started giving her tuitions along with other students at her house in Bally.
Soon the duo hit off and they allegedly started having a steady affair. Chaitali's family was apparently aware of the affair but did not object as they did not know that the schoolteacher was married and also had a kid.
