Essel Propack Ltd has informed BSE regarding a Press Release dated April 24, 2008 titled “ launches “Etain” - A fully recyclable plastic packaging tube created out of recycled plastic material”.

Ltd (EPL), on April 24, 2008 has launched ‘Etain’ - a fully recyclable plastic packaging tube made from a combination of virgin and recycled plastic material.

Etain has been created with an objective to reduce the amount of virgin plastic in tube packaging. The new Post Consumer Recycled (PCR) tubes will be recycled under Code 2 norms defined by the Society of Plastic Industry. Etain contains up to 40 percent PCR HDPW plastic material. The plastic packaging tubes are typically used by FMCG companies fir packaging Various types of hair care, skin care, pharmaceutical, food products, besides cosmetics.

Ashok Goel, Managing Director and Vice Chairman, Easel Propack Ltd said, “Today Environmental Sustainability has become a necessity therefore corporates need to demonstrate their proactive approach towards environment. Recognising this need, has embarked upon launching ‘Etain’. We are partnering in this effort with our MNC customers so that FMCG companies are also able to fulfill the need for lesser packaging along with Retail Giants.”

While explaining the process, Sanjay Bhasin, CEO Tubes and laminated products, Essel Propack Ltd said, “ buys resins made from recycled material from qualified suppliers and blends them with virgin plastic materials. This reduces the amount
of virgin plastic in the package. Also, the type of plastics in Etain is controlled so that it complies with the Code 2 recycling stream requirements. This way Etain is made from recycled plastic material and is fully recyclable for the same recycling stream that it came from. I am very pleased to launch Etain today not only because it offers our customers what they have been looking for but also because it helps us all do our bit towards the environment.”

Etain is primarily targeted at American and European consumer goods companies, but will also be available to ’s Indian customers.

M K Banerjee, the C&I Director of Essel Propack, added, “Another highlight of Etain is that it is highly customisable and the amount of PCR can be varied depending upon customer specific needs. This is only the beginning, and is planning to introduce a number of products within the same overall theme of sustainability.”
