With reference to the earlier announcement dated November 22, 2006, NMDC Ltd has informed BSE that the Government of India has conveyed its approval for the merger of Sponge Iron India Ltd, Hyderabad, (SIIL) with NMDC Ltd, Hyderabad (NMDC), through acquisition of shares of SIIL by NMDC, vide letter dated June 02, 2008 of the Under Secretary to the Government, Ministry of Steel, Udyog Bhawan, New Delhi.
