Sterlite Industries India Ltd has informed BSE that pursuant to the consideration and approval of the Board of Directors of the Company at their meeting held on May 30, 2008, Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd has signed a definitive Agreement to purchase substantially all the operating assets of ASARCO, LLC, the third largest copper producer in the United States of America.

In this regard Company has issued a press release dated May 31, 2008, titled “Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd to Purchase Operating Assets of ASARCO LLC for $2.6 billion”.
