National Thermal Power Corporation Ltd (NTPC) has informed BSE that Shri. T Sankaralingam, Chairman & Managing Director of the Company has superannuated on April 30, 2008 and Shri. R S Sharma, Director (Commercial), NTPC has taken over as the Chairman & Managing Director of the Company w.e.f. May 01, 2008.

Shri. R S Sharma joined NTPC in early February 1980 and has worked in various capacities covering erection to commissioning and operation & maintenance of large thermal power stations. Besides, he had also looked after the functions of Corporate Planning.

During his tenure as Director (Commercial) besides looking after commercial functions, he has been instrumental in setting up of a number of Joint Ventures and subsidiary Companies in the capacity as head of New Business Development Group, He has also been author to a number of Technical Papers on various subjects of Power Plant Operation & Maintenance.
