Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd has informed BSE that the Board of Directors of the Company at its meeting held on April 22, 2008, inter alia, has took note of the following:

1. Acquisition of 9,669,977 Equity Shares of Orchid Chemicals & Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Orchid) constituting 14.69% of the Equity Share Capital of Orchid by Solrex Pharmaceuticals Company (Solrex), a partnership firm between Solus Pharmaceuticals Ltd and
Rexcel Pharmaceuticals Ltd., wholly owned subsidiaries of the Company; and

2. Disclosures made by Solrex to the Stock Exchanges and Orchid in regard to the above.
