Sterlite Technologies Ltd has informed BSE that the Company has received three contracts valued at INR 2.96 Billion (approximately US$ 74 Million) from PGCIL (Power Grid Corporation of India) for supply of Power Transmission Conductors.

In this regard the Company has issued the following Press Release:

Ltd on April 24, 2008 has announced that it has received three contracts from PGCIL (Power Grid Corporation of India) that have a cumulative value of INR 2.96 Billion (~US$ 74 Million). As per PGCIL’s requirements, supplies against these contracts would commence from August 2008.

PGCIL is India’s single largest buyer of Power Transmission Conductors and over the past decade, Sterlite has established itself as the single largest supplier for PGCIL’s pan-India requirements.

With the receipt of these new contracts, the Company has opened FY-09 with a total order book of INR 10.2 Billion (~US$257 Million) for its telecom & power businesses.

MANAGEMENT STATEMENT

With our expanded capacity for Power Transmission Conductors we believe Sterlite has the capability to maintain equilibrium in supply of our products to service the growing demand from the Indian market and to grow our global market shares.”

NEW CONTRACTS RECEIVED FROM PGCIL

Sterlite was chosen as the sole manufacturer and supplier for over 8,300 km of ACSR Conductors that would be installed in the 400 kV D/C Korba-Birsinghpur-Damoh-Bhopal Transmission Lines in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh.

Sterlite was chosen as the sole manufacturer and supplier for over 3,100 km of ACSR & AACSR Conductors that would be installed in the 400 kV d/C Gorakhpur-Lucknow Transmission Lines in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Sterlite also received a contract for about 1,450 km of ACSR Conductors that would be installed in the 400 KV D/C Vapi-Navi Mumbai, 400 KV S/C Lonikhand-Kalwa & 220 KV D/C Vapi-Khadoli Transmission Lines in the Indian state of Maharashtra.”

Sterlite Technologies wins US$ 17.5 Million contract from EEPCo, Ethiopia

Sterlite Technologies Ltd on February 11, 2008 announced that it has received a contract from Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo), Ethiopia for manufacture and supply of AAAC Power Transmission Conductors. The contract is valued at US$ 17.5 Million
(approximately INR 700 Million) and as per customer requirements; the deliveries are scheduled from April 2008 through September 2008.

Sterlite was chosen as the sole manufacturer and supplier for over 17,000 km of ?AAAC Conductors’ that would be installed in the 4,000 km route length of the ‘Accelerated Electrification Programme (AEP) Project’ being executed under World Bank funding in Ethiopia.

Sterlite has a fortified its market share to about 14% in Africa & the Middle East with its Power Transmission Conductors products sold in 32 countries across the region to reputed Turnkey, Utilities and Infrastructure Companies such as SONELGAZ - Algeria, EEPCo - Ethiopia, KPLC ? Kenya, PHCN ? Nigeria, ESKOM - South Africa and FEWA - UAE, to name a few.

For the 9-months in FY 2007-08, Sterlite?s export sales for its Power Conductors accounted for about 35% of total revenues from sale of its Power Conductor products. The Company currently supplies about 27% of India?s total demand for power transmission & distribution conductors.
